
The Henhouse Prowlers, Chicago’s premier Bluegrass band, are releasing their latest CD, “Verses, Chapters, and Rhymes” this Saturday 2/12 at Legion Hall in Evanston. The boys are back in town but briefly as they prepare to head to Wintergrass and then Europe as the Prowlers’ acclaim continues to grow both nationally and internationally. The show begins at 8PM and is open to all ages. The venue is just off the Central Purple line stop and also has plenty of parking. Come out and give them our hometown support before they head back out on the road.

Dance Rock, Chicago’s premier electronic event hosted by Day One and Vibe Tribe, is less than two weeks away and the buzz has never been louder. Gemini Club is releasing their much anticipated single “Ghost” tonight at Metro. They headline a HUGE local lineup including Kid Color, Midnight Conspiracy, Hey Champ and more. Sporting self made instruments such as the electric washboard, the theremin, and the electric didley bow, The Velcro Lewis Group has crafted a unique sound that really shines on their latest album, White Magick Summer. After releasing the album in July, they have been tearing up venues across the Midwest and Northeast and tonight they cap a nearly two month tour right here at home at Lincoln Hall. I know it’s only Monday and you are probably recovering from the weekend, but I all ready know what you are doing to jump start next weekend. That’s right, it’s One Night Stand’s Ghost Release Party at Metro. This is a ridiculous line up headlined by Gemini Club, who are playing a live set featuring Jonathan Marks on the drums. This years fest showcases local, national, and international talent playing everything from traditional salsa to modern Latin house all for free in various locations throughout Millennium Park. The Annual Guinness Oyster Fest takes place in Roscoe Village in 2010 and features two stages of music. Tom Schraeder and His Ego headlines this year’s celebration. Plenty of oysters and Guinness beer will keep you fueled for this all day event.

Gallerie MK kicks off it’s season on Friday 9/10 with New Horizons in the River North neighborhood. From 6PM – 9PM, established and emerging Chicago artists will display their talents in the largest Gallerie MK opening of the year. Pieces on display will include works by Mei-Ku huang, the Gallerie’s owner as well as up and coming artist Patrick Wozny.
The Double Door has a monster line-up tonight as Miami Horror takes the stage but not before you get DJ sets by local stars Midnight Conspiracy and Kid Color. You will also be treated to a Codebreaker live set all for $10. The show starts at 8:30 so get your tickets now!
